Uncompromising Product Quality Standards
For the leading product at JINS, eyeglass frames, we always strive for “zero compromise” in improving product quality in order to enrich our customers’ lives through the products offered by the company. Our product quality standards conform not only to ISO international standards* used by eyewear manufacturers around the world and Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) used in Japan, but also to JINS’ own internal standards. We carry out inspections covering 20 items including the standards above and a final inspection process that includes visual inspection by workers. We have also adopted global standards in our product labeling, which forms the basis of product selection for customers, and strive to ensure that customers can evaluate our products properly and use our products with confidence. For instance, there are many ways to calculate indices showing the effectiveness of blue light blocking, however at JINS, we use “EN standards” (unified standards for Europe*2) that are widely used across the world. Despite such strict requirements, we are manufacturing in a way that meets international standards.
*1 International standard ISO 12870 and others
*2 The calculation formula for the EN standards is also used in the international ISO standards and JIS.
System
Quality Control System
JINS has established “JINS Quality Control Systems (JQCS)” as an internal standard concerning quality assurance for ensuring product quality. Based on these regulations, we have created a cross-departmental quality control system and promote efforts to maintain and improve the quality of our products and services. JQCS controls all products and operations, from product planning and manufacturing to after-sales service, and defines the roles and responsibilities of departments involved in quality assurance. In addition, the Quality Control Meeting has been established as a place to discuss quality-related matters in a centralized manner. The members of the Quality Control Meeting include employees in sales, production, distribution, quality assurance, and those based in overseas offices, and is chaired by the Executive Vice President of JINS HOLDINGS. The committee meets once a month to share concerns about the quality of products and services, as well as to discuss and deliberate on policies for responding to these concerns. Important matters are reported to the Board of Directors through the Governance Management Committee. Moreover, we have established quality assurance departments in each Manufacturing and Governance Department to build a quality assurance system with effective governance by which quality is monitored in a mutual manner.

Quality and Safety Checking by Third-party Organizations
In order to further improve quality, JINS has third-party organizations, such as global research organizations for quality assurance, conduct checks on quality and safety. By having a third-party conduct quality assurance, we strive to improve the safety of our products and the reliability of our manufacturing process.
Pre-Shipment Inspection of Finished Products and Audit
At JINS, products manufactured in accordance with JQCS are inspected at the factory before shipment, and quality assurance section determine whether the required quality is met, thereby ensuring the quality assurance of products. In addition to appointing a manager responsible for inspection from among the members of the quality assurance section to supervise incoming inspection operations, we have established a management system to ensure that outsourced inspectors fully understand JQCS before engaging in incoming inspections.
Post-Shipment Quality Retention
JINS is committed to delivering the highest quality products to its customers.
Not only do we check products rigorously before sales, but also monitor their quality thoroughly even after they appear on store shelves. We have established high standards that are unified globally to maintain product quality and to deliver them to customers around the world.
JINS does not set the completion of shipping as a goal, but values the willingness of continuous quality monitoring. By continuing to face our products diligently, we will fulfill the trust of our customers.
Emergency Measures
Measures in Case of a Voluntary Product Recall
Should a product defect be discovered, the quality assurance team compiles the number of inquiries from customers, the number of defects registered at stores, and the number of inquiries from various organizations, and calculates the expected frequency of occurrence and the expected degree of harm, which make up the quantitative evaluation criteria. The validity of the quantitative evaluation criteria is approved by the Quality Control Committee, and a final decision is made in accordance with the following procedures A through C.
A) Decision by the director in charge
The decision made by the Risk Management Committee shall be approved and submitted to the Governance Supervision Committee and Board of Directors after considering the “necessary factors to be considered in management decisions on recalls.”
B) Receiving second opinions from third-party experts (lawyers, academics, consumer groups, etc.) and third-party opinions on the appropriateness of JINS’ “implementation criteria for product recalls,” “quantitative evaluation criteria for product recalls,” etc., the appropriateness of the evaluation of the case at hand, and the appropriateness of the decision on whether or whether not to issue a recall, along with the details thereof.
C) Final decision by management
The final decision shall be made based on the second opinion given by third parties in B).
