Basic Approach

JINS has defined “More than new” as one of its “Four Promises” to customers under the vision of “Magnify Life.”
Based on this approach, we are taking on new challenges without being restricted to the area of eyewear to create a “new normal” that enrich customers’ lives and unlock new experiences. In addition to exploring new possibilities for eyewear as defined by our “Four Promises,” we are taking on new challenges without being restricted to the area of eyewear. Thinking beyond eyewear and diversifying our business by expanding into areas other than eyewear manufacturing and sales will allow us to meet the diversifying needs of society, while also bringing about effects such as the overhauling of our business structure, diversification of risks, and improved efficiency of management resources.

Healthcare Through Eyewear
JINS MEME: From Seeing to Knowing

Launched in 2015, JINS MEME is a wearable device in the form of glasses equipped with an originally developed three-point ocular potential sensor (patented) and a six-axis motion sensor. In October 2021, we released the 2nd generation of this device with added improvements to its design, as well as improved app functions and services*.
*As of 2025, this product is no longer sold for general users.
Currently, we continue to provide the device and analysis tools to universities and corporate research institutes, and take on the challenge of creating a market for sensing eyewear that transcends the conventional concept of functional eyewear and realizes healthcare.

Eyewear Development Including Industry-Academic Collaboration

We have set up an R&D office at the JINS Head Office where we work together with partner companies, university professors, and medical specialists in our tireless efforts to carry out research that will bring about never-before-seen products and services and broaden the potential of eyewear. A number of innovative products have come about through such industry-academic collaboration projects, including “JINS SCREEN” lenses that block blue light, “JINS MEME” sensing eyewear, and “JINS VIOLET+” lenses that let in violet light, which is believed to be necessary for eyes.

Protecting Eyes From Blue Light
JINS SCREEN (Blue Light Blocking Lenses)

People in the modern age are unknowingly exposed to blue light from a wide variety of digital devices, such as smartphones and computers. There is a concern that this exposure has an adverse effect on the body.
JINS SCREEN are lenses that allow wearers to effortlessly block blue light. The lens are highly transparent, look natural, and are easy to get used to, making them convenient to use in daily life, such as at work and at home.

With the wide spread of digital devices across society, the amount of exposure in a 24-hour period to blue light emitting media, such as TVs and smartphones, increases by the day.

JINS’ blue light blocking lenses effectively reduce the light that enters the eye directly through lenses, as well as light that enters the eye after bouncing of the back surface of lenses. This was only possible thanks to JINS’ continual pursuit of technology and design every day. We hope you try our high-quality blue light blocking lenses.

Protecting Eyes from Lack of Sunlight
JINS VIOLET+ (Lenses That Let Through Violet Light)

Violet light, which is believed to be necessary for eyes, is one part of the spectrum of sunlight (a wavelength between 360 and 400 nm) located between ultraviolet and blue light. Many products currently on the market, including eyeglasses, contact lenses, and window glass used in vehicles and residential and commercial buildings, are labeled as “UV400” or “UV-cut,” which means that they block not only ultraviolet light but also violet light.

To address this issue, JINS has developed “JINS VIOLET+”, newly designed lenses that let through violet light. These innovative lenses adopt our originally designed “light optimizer” that selectively lets through the wavelength range of violet light to provide an environment where an appropriate amount of violet light is allowed to enter the eye, while at the same time blocking ultraviolet and blue light.

Protecting Eyes from Unwanted Pollen and Droplets
JINS PROTECT

The JINS PROTECT series is a health care product developed and marketed to protect eyes in various scenes, such as from pollen, droplets, and dryness. The JINS PROTECT KIDS and the JINS PROTECT JUNIOR that protect children's eyes from pollen are equipped with a removable eyecup that is made by clear rubber and safety-conscious. We will continue to make improvements for eye protection.
